Across the road of the Urban Renewal Authority development site (yesterday's post) are these low-rise buildings, which might be too "new" to attract the attention of the Urban Renewal Authority yet have been deteriorating quickly...
Second Street, Hong Kong
'Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.' Henri Cartier Bresson
Maybe it's this quote that has impacted me most and given me the strongest drive since I took up photography a few years ago; maybe it's most regrettable when your most "familiar" place and people suddenly went away and you realized that you don't even have a good picture to bring back the memories... This is a little series of my neighbourhoood.
I do not regard myself as a photographer... I'm just a guy who enjoys capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my life, my everyday life, with whatever photo machine I've got. Perhaps, it's like a traveller hoping to record his memorable journey, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

i am loving this rather monochromatic yellow (split pea) hue here! an excellent shot, and quite emotionally charged -- as is quite common in all of your shots -- and marvelously so! so much detail -- so many lines and shapes! the man sitting on the chair gives this tremendous scale... bravo!

I think this is another good photo, with this man who gives the human element to this empty street at night.

I like your tones which add a cinematic effect to this image and add to an interesting mood!

This is so dark compared to most of your images, Hugo. It is very powerful. That wash of blue-grey in the darkening sky really complements the yellows along the street. Very, very good.

Really lovely ambient light ... it sets a beautiful scene with the man sitting and the others walking. I'm particularly fond of photographs taken in low light/night situations. Beautiful work, Hugo!

Tremendous image, the dim yellow lights illuminating what appears to be an older - somewhat rundown area is fantastic. Top work.!
