Second Street, Hong Kong
'Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.' Henri Cartier Bresson
Maybe it's this quote that has impacted me most and given me the strongest drive since I took up photography a few years ago; maybe it's most regrettable when your most "familiar" place and people suddenly went away and you realized that you don't even have a good picture to bring back the memories... This is a little series of my neighbourhoood.
I do not regard myself as a photographer... I'm just a guy who enjoys capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my life, my everyday life, with whatever photo machine I've got. Perhaps, it's like a traveller hoping to record his memorable journey, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

I'm really enjoying this series, Hugo. Here, the dampness of the street really underscores the moodiness of the deserted scene.

What a magnificent night shot, Hugo! The skyscraper in the distance is like a beacon in the night ... beautiful mood you've captured here!

@Ron: Thank you Ron for looking into the picture!!! Yes, the skyscraper in the distance (Two IFC, Central District http://www.pbase.com/hpicckcy/two_ifc), and its contrast to this old domestic district was what interested me...
A wonderful image Hugo, it's the street lighting that creates this atmospheric scene. Full marks to Ron for mentioning the skyscraper..!

this is a magnificent night shot. though i have never been to hong kong, my mental image of it is one that is constantly full of people, and this really disputes that simplistic assumption. it is a great picture

Beautifully photographed, the atmosphere of the street, a small corner of the cosmos, very beautiful angle.
