"you be good..." (a building of unknown fate)Posted by hugo poon (hong kong, Hong Kong) on 31 August 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. This is a series of the Central Market - one of the last remaining "Bauhaus market buildings" in HK. Not only was it the first wet market in HK, it was also once the biggest meat markets in Southeast Asia. However, being located at the core of the CBD, this 4-storey building was considered seriously underdeveloped for such a precious piece of land. It was eventually closed and vacated a few years ago (with the exception of only a few shops on the 2nd floor arcade). However, to the surprise of the Government, her plan to demolish the building for another private commercial skyscraper has been blocked by fierce objection... I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm merely a guy who enjoys capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. Perhaps, it's like a traveller hoping to record his memorable journey, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
