watching the world go by...Posted by hugo poon (hong kong, Hong Kong) on 3 October 2008 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. Never expected the ground floor of this old building to be actually inhabited - it's always closed and seemed like an abandoned workshop, warehouse or something, until a recent evening when this scene of solitude caught my attention... Western Street, Hong Kong PS. I understand solitude is a state of seclusion or isolation, lack of contact with people or love, yet must confess that this is exactly what I indulge myself so frequently. Solitude is specially beautiful when it turns misery and banality into a sentimental poem... (My solitude album: http://www.pbase.com/hpicckcy/the_solitude_album) I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm merely a guy who enjoys capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. Perhaps, it's like a traveller hoping to record his memorable journey, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
