amoy street (I)Posted by hugo poon (hong kong, Hong Kong) on 12 January 2009 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio. An old street in the fast developing Wanchai District where some traditional local shops, garages, machinery workshops, etc. could still find a place... At the end it intersects with Queen's Road East across which stands one of the early skyscrapers in HK, the 66-storey Hopewell Centre... Amoy Street, Wanchai, Hong Kong This is a series of the places and streets I'm passing by everyday... Somehow I feel lucky to have found (or been found by) 'photography', without which I would not have kept that "sense of wonder" of the child or the traveler, and this daily journey to and from office would not have been such enjoyable... The first pic of the series: http://hugopoon.aminus3.com/image/2009-01-03.html I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm merely a guy who enjoys capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. Perhaps, it's like a traveller hoping to record his memorable journey, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
