amoy street (II)... "kkk machinery engineering"

Posted by hugo poon (hong kong, Hong Kong) on 13 January 2009 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

One of the traditional machinery workshops mentioned yesterday. Every time I walk past him, can't resist to slow down and take a good look at his work and the shop. Almost always working on his own yet he's so industrious, devoted, skillful, and confident... a pure delight to watch.

Amoy Street, Wanchai, Hong Kong

This is a series of the places and streets I'm passing by everyday... Somehow I feel lucky to have found (or been found by) 'photography', without which I would not have kept that "sense of wonder" of the child or the traveler, and this daily journey to and from office would not have been such enjoyable... The first pic of the series: http://hugopoon.aminus3.com/image/2009-01-03.html

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm merely a guy who enjoys capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. Perhaps, it's like a traveller hoping to record his memorable journey, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...
