I've always been drawn to traditional little stores such as this... and would get especially overjoyed when I found them to be doing fine in the fierce competition with modern chain shops!

"Stone Slab Street" (Pottinger Street), Central, Hong Kong

PS. Two more pics will be coming.:-)

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

This is a totally fascinating image of this tiny business establishment. My son and I visited a business with a similar feel, but maybe smaller, Fan's Chop Shop to have some stone chops made. The proprietor had a bit of trouble figuring out the characters for our name but he got it. Over a year later, we were back in Hong Kong and visited there again. The owner looked up from his work and without missing a beat said, "it's been a while." He had no trouble at all with our name this time.

Seeing your wonderful image transports me around the world. I feel as though I'm there.

@Steve Rice: How gratifying that my pic actually brings back some of your wonderful memories.:-) Yes, sometimes these tiny establishments are really amazing, and personally, I enjoy the feeling of dealing with a "human", alot more than that of a cold mechanized automated system of the large corporations...

Francisco Díaz from Palma de Mallorca, Spain

It's a wonderful shot with a perfect lighting, I also like those stores.

There are lots of these in Mexico. I still wonder how they survive on selling gum and chips. Nice capture, I like the incline towards the store
