"climbing the ladder" ... (i)

One morning, on my way to the office...

Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong

Fujifilm X-Pro1 1/160 second F/11.0 ISO 400 53 mm (35mm equiv.)

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Up to the light in a beautiful & soft range of grey (another scale here, the grey one) and that soft monochrome makes the ascending way lighter too, i do hope you do have this feeling while beginning your week of work, this image gives courage & positive mood, let's go & follow the young boy & join the light on top. The gradient of light and the framing are fantastic. An image to stare at. The contrast of the man against the background is perfect. The quick climb and the visual effect of the ladders all leave a wonderful impression.

It takes a whole world of imagination to interpret this pic, Hugo. Hong Kong is such a magic place, where if you work hard, you can keep moving upwards ... I also like the stripes on the shoes and the backpack of the young man ... they simply match the pattern of the entire image, i.e., the stairs and the side walls, so seamlessly.
