Yesterdays - old streets, old shops, old buildings... are my memories inspiring me to photograph them or are the images of them bringing back the memories? I really don't know. But for sure, there're some yesterdays that I'd never forget...

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

@bruno: Yes, I've seen him there for years, working six days a week!

Hugo... I actually find it surprising that in such a modern city, buisinesses like his continue to exist at all! I think its great that independent traders have not been squeezed out, and I have really enjoyed this journey you have taken us all on. Let me know when you are ready to publish your book, and I'll see if I can help you get it together (My wife has many contacts in HK design & printing industry).

@IanSmith: But sadly these traditional self-employed businesses are vanishing at a surprising pace too!:-( I just couldn't help getting a few shots every time I saw one...

Publishing a book? You know it has been a dream of mine all these years though the lack of time is always the biggest problem. At the moment, I have barely enough chance to process a few shots in the weekend and update my blogs... Look forward to your next visit to HK when you can probably throw me some light on how to get started.:-)

Have a nice weekend!

As always, the ambience in your picture is extraordinaire, everyday life, people at work, itimate light. Vry good.

This shot is so life-like Hugo, it's brilliant. But that little shoe shop looks out of place, as does the old alley.

Such a fine shot. Especially good is the contrast between the two figures that form book-ends on each side of the frame.
