solitude... the last seat of the tram (I)

Posted by

I've always been drawn to lonely people on a tram... and don't know why, they seem to like this last seat most.

Queensway, Hong Kong

Solitude is a state of seclusion or isolation, lack of contact with people or love, yet I must confess that this is exactly what I indulge myself so frequently. Solitude is specially beautiful when it turns misery and banality into a sentimental poem... (My solitude album:

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

I like the subject, the framing, the air on the face of that teenager, and above all his long arm and hand in which all his solitude seems wrapped...

Very good and poetic image and words. Hugo.
Solitude is hard for many people and, however, is a need for everybody to be alone some times to refind oneself.
I like to be alone too. And. as you say, the banality and also the horror in this world exiges sometimes to put oneself apart to come bak reinforced.

I love this one Hugo...the quiet moment, the solitude. It's really an intimate image, this young man, lost in thought and dream.

The lighting here is absolutely perfect, Hugo, for achieving a lush visual that supports your narrative. Nicely done.

Very beautiful portrait Hugo. I like it a lot. The subtle window light is modeling his face and form so nicely. Maybe he is a little bored but he appears very relaxed, resulting in a completely natural looking portrait.
