Melbourne Central Shopping Centre, Melbourne

This is a series of holiday snaps when I was recently on vacation in Melbourne, an amazing city of wonderful heritage, beautiful gardens and countryside... http://www.pbase.com/hpicckcy/melbourne_2009

FUJIFILM FinePix F200EXR 1/10 second F/3.3 ISO 400 7 mm

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

This is a magnificent capture, Hugo - and it is so good to hear from you again. Without the short context of your description - I'd be at a loss to know what this is - beyond fabulous. Is the brick building within this view an actual old building?

Dear Hugo,
I have to say again that your photo has inspired. I gave up taking pictures many years ago after I sold my Canon F1. Thank to you, I bought F30 than F31fd. I start to take pictures again. I am planning to buy the F200, in your opinion with the same exposure, do you think the picture took from F200 is the same or sharper than F31(or F30)?
Oh, I remembered there is one time I saw your photo in DPReview's Nikon forum, I heart beat did trigger with a wrong rhythm until your photo re-appearred again in Fujiforum.
Please post more pictures.
Thank you
Ban

@Ban: Thank you so much Ban!!! It's always gratifying to know that old friends in dpreview are still remembering me and my snapshots!:-) However, I haven't posted on the Nikon forum since my D80 was sold; and posted much less frequently on the Fuji forum when it has sadly got "polluted" and stuffed with empty talks and biased disputes on equipments...:-( How to compare the F200 with the F30/31? I don't see too much difference in "sharpness" (though there seems to be less over-sharpening artefacts) but what really impresses me is the amazing dynamic range! And with a wider zoom range, effective IS, much reduced PFs, and a great LCD display, I genuinely feel that the F200 is a wonderful improvement over the F30. It's a lovely little photo machine to be carried everywhere, night or day.:-) See you and take care, Hugo
