an old street lamp...

... "taller" than the tallest skyscrapers.

We just have had the Double Ninth Festival, a traditional Chinese festival during which it's a custom to climb a high mountain... The family decided to visit the Peak (Victoria Peak) for dinner. It's a wonderful evening and the weather was nice though a strong haze spoiled my plan to take some good pics of the city. As we're having a lovely stroll after dinner, I was drawn to this old street lamp...

PS. The shot was taken with the Nikon 35mm F1.8, a lovely little standard lens that k@'s wonderful pics have convinced me to buy. Pretty good picture quality (especially considering the price) and the shallow DOF is just beautiful! Thanks k@!:-)))

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Ah, he got it, he did it ! :)
Superb lighting like in a movie scene, a very moody one (a modern Metropolis), love the atmosphere here and your focus & DOF are gems !
Thanks for your words in the caption, I feel very touched, my dear Hugo, and very happy too. You made my day ! Enjoy your new toy*

Wow, the return of 'the Beast'. Nice to see you're still using the S5Pro - and I'm a huge fan of prime lenses.
A very unique view from the Peak - I can't remember anybody shooting this before. Very well captured, and amazing DR and DOF. Great shot.

@Ian Smith: Neither have I seen someone shooting this before.:-) I've really tried hard to refrain from taking those touristy pics of the Peak! Thank you my friend!
