immersed and lost again...

"Gage Street and one last Street Market"

I've been passing by this street (at least twice a week) for more than a decade now, yet there's not a single time that I wouldn't stop to take a good look - maybe I'm fascinated by how this old street interplays with the ever-changing surrounding urban settings.

Talking about the street market, maybe you'll still remember this flower shop: http://hugopoon.aminus3.com/image/2009-11-11.html
Would post a couple more shots of this street market in coming days.

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Nice capture and an interesting title. These ever-busy streets with some old parts that remain spectator to the scene that changes every moment are so exciting to observe..

Nicely captured Hugo.

The head "in"... I love the interplay and your vantage point, the whole street from above... It's good (and rather rare) to really look at one place, again & again, to be full conscious in present time when you walk in or pass by, you really see, Hugo, and each time different things, yes the Old & the New again hand in hand, as if some secret message has been delivered here especially for you and you don't have finished to read it... I love this, it gives inner depth & strengh to go on, doesn't it ? Have a great week-end, your head relaxing better than holding your head, hopefully ;)

The photo of the flower shop in a superb one with this fantastic use of light.
I like here the panorama of the street, very deep and well illuminated too, and these people and shops showing the everyday life.

Fantastic shot!!!! I can see why you like this street spilling into the distance through the narrow canyon of buildings. I love your combination of the man in the advertisement. Very surreal and poignant image.

Such magnificent detail and unbelievable DOF for such a camera. I can see your reason to stop and stare, the depth of view and atmosphere is very appealing. Great shot Hugo!

I like exploring alleyways in London.
The only way to see "real" London life, I guess.
Also good way to discover nice places to eat!

Great picture to show how hard could be urban life.

The same one with a smiling woman advert ?

An excellent shot...I love how narrow the street is, how the windows and balconies create their own pattern above the sidewalks and vendors. The billboard with the man with his hands in his head is so symbolic to how we all feel at one time or another, of life in the city.

superb shot ... a contrast between the advertisement (what does think the man ?) and the street life
