A mood of the city that is somehow hard to escape from...

Hennessy Road, Hong Kong

PS. "6 nights & 6 days with the X100" - This is a series of urban landscapes of Hong Kong taken with a sample Fujifilm X100 a couple of weeks ago. Just as I might be having another "photographer's block" I was given this marvelouss photo taking machine to test use; I got excited and 'hungry' again to capture any interesting street scene unrolling before my eyes...

FUJIFILM FinePix X100 1/550 second F/2.8 ISO 200 23 mm

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

The girl through the barb wire and her expression well represent your theme. In this case I probably would have cropped out that piece of building to the left though I do appreciate you showing us fully the capabilities of that nice little toy you got to play with. ;)

A good observation by you Hugo, and a real life street image of beauty on one side and an impassible barrier on the other.

This is a strong composition - but so true. Our cities are full of every possible means to exhibit a life so cool and great but somehow the mood doesn't seem to be that way - there's certainly something that keeps us tied down..
