I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Wow, excellent lines and composition. I love the zagged railing and the two towers, man and skyscraper. A classic, pristine image. Contrast between black front and distant white is also just perfect!

Excellent tall crop, you can tell by the posture that the man seems to be inpired.

That is an impressive skyscraper. I have a night shot coming up in a few days from the ferry pier in Central. I like your shot, with the silhouetted person, a lot.

It's like looking at a city from the future, and a nice touch having the silhouetted person in the foreground to provide scale. Another one of your excellent river shots..!

All the lines are in harmony to create a sharp urban landscape, with this figure of the man as a witness. i like te pale grey of the buidings afr and the black of the man , close. Good ! Annierita

Wonderful verticality story & compo. The narrowness is very significant too. Seems that the man, yet in a cool attitude, is pressurisized by the society corridor, invited (pushed !) to grow UP like the building with is razor blade-like stunning glitterings and the man looks at all this from distance as if thinking, Enough for me, time to leave this whole... hence his light movement and bending to the right (oh so right ! ;) edge of the frame. Exit one.
I also love the very stylish black fence and it's Z shape, protecting the hero of your image from a jumping into the sea of big business...
Very delicate & strong at the same time image. Have a wonderful mid-week (as Sharon/Bluechameleon) perfectly says *

@k@: Oh dear, you've expressed so accurately the mood with your insightful words!!! Enchanted, mesmerized yet pressurized by another super obtrusive skyscraper... So gratifying to know the compositional elements appeal to you! Have a lovely and peaceful mid-week k@!:-)

Anna.C from LA ROCHELLE, France

so impressive composition ! I love the narrow crop, the fence, the silhouette of the man in back light, in front of the giant building ! a simple man lost in a big city ! great BW, too ! nice day, Hugo !

Allan from Chiang Rai, Thailand

There are times when a man is in imagination with matter; say why it is so beautiful looking ahead, is in thinking that he thinks has something to be happy, the shadow of him. I see it on this picture to do anything but think about something else

The collection of verticals in this is very addictive . . provides such an appropriate setting for the featured building, somehow.

This is masterful Hugo, the way you have presented such strong contrasts between foreground and background. Astounding.
Also the fact that both are composed with the similar vertical shape.
