PS. One of the first few shots taken with my new camera that arrived yesterday... seems like I've got a good copy.:-)

FUJIFILM FinePix X100 1/30 second F/5.6 ISO 800 23 mm

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

@k@: Prowling around my neighbourhood a bit yet couldn't find particular "unkown beauties" so far... had lots of fun though, photographing (and discovering new charm in) the old and familiar subjects!:-)

Dear Mr.Poon,
I have to say, like always, the mood of your photos give me asense of being there eventhogh I do not have a chance to visit Hong Kong. I follow your website way back when you 're using the F30. Your photos retained the same quality, if I may say it's the same quality of mood of YOURS, I think I am able to recognize your photos if it appers on the magazines or any billboards. You have a unique style of capturing the urban's life around you. I am using F30 and another F31fd as a back up. The Finepix X100, I can see that is little bigger than F30 or F200, does the size of X100 get notice when you are taking hte piture ? Does it hinder the street shooting as you want to capture your surrounding as natural as it can be? I believe that the X100 does not have stabilization ?
Thak you for posting your photos, I am looking forward to see more ...please

best regards

13 Mar 2011 7:01pm

@bvu, Santa Monica: Thanks again Ban!!! I guess I know why my style is being "unique" - I have received no training in art or photography whatsoever. In other words, I have to "develop" my own style - one that pleases my own mind!:-)

The F30 is definitely a classic, although it's not always straightforward to get the best results from it. Yes, the x100 is larger yet so good so far... I seem to be able to maintain reasonably inconspicuous. Thanks to its good lcd display, it won't be too difficult to get a waist level shot.:-)

I love the colors and light! You said 'good copy'? Does that mean some of them are a bit wonky?

17 Mar 2011 12:16pm

@¨‘°ºO Dutçh Oº°‘¨: "Does that mean some of them are a bit wonky?" Haven't heard of any yet... but the real bad news is that the factory producing the X100 has already been shut down subsequent to the calamity. The good news is nobody of the production team got hurt.

larans from Lund, Sweden

So many lights, so many details, what a wonderful capture. And this photo seem to be a good example of your new X100:s capacity. it promises well.

I'm glad that no one got hurt but yes I expect a lot of items out of Japan will be.. rarer in the next months to years, until they recover.
