So I bumped into a homeless, a photographer prowling the street and a lonely shopper waiting patiently for her friend...

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

I agree with Anna...
a moment of loneliness can be lived in a different way according to the situation... i can feel its weight in the wild glance of the homeless...

Beautiful light, Hugo. Besides, I love the contrast between the feeling of loneliness in the people awaiting and the crowed and busy street. Great image.

It's maybe a common street scene still there are dramatic bonds visible. Well seen. And perfect b&w here.

I like the placement of the 3 in the foreground, and their shadows as well. A tale of 3 stories with that stream of people that add so much to the background. As always, you have a knack with the street Hugo. Cheers to you :)

Obviously the street people are important, but what I find so invigorating is that beautiful mellow sun and the long shadows, it is lighting the street and the air superbly. Excellent image..!

A lovely scene. There is so much going on in this frame. Great shooting, Hugo.

The Day Dreamers of Lockhart Road! I think the low sun adds a real sense of thoughtless wonderment about the characters in this scene... Is that a discarded lottery scratchcard beneath the homeless man's feet? Is the photographer blinded by the sun that he cannot see the beautiful girl waiting to be captured? And is the girl and her iPod entranced by the melody that she has forgotten her intended purpose for the day? I wonder? :-)

3 crowd barrier or poles, 3 standing still characters, and around life goes in every direction. They seem absorbed, 'called' by the same thing, faking to ignore the 2 others but strongly linked (not consciously) in their floating trio. The void the 3 of them are looking at is full of something so special. I love that frozen moment you offer here, and of course we have to add the 4th musketeers here, yourself Hugo, as your finger presses the shutter & stops your breathe for that fraction of a sec (1/1300, love that speed !) when your own eyes might have been filled with that same special inner dazzle that stopped you all.
The light is beautiful, that isolates each hero here (like with a flash/fill in) and their respective pole or crowd barrier.
What a moment, a decisive one for sure, my dear !
