"a thing of beauty..."

"Isn't it delight to learn and practise what is learned time and again? Isn't it happiness to have friends coming from afar? Isn't it gentlemanly to be unperturbed when not appreciated by others?" Confucius.

A brilliant designer/photographer of London, and a good old friend of mine, paid me a visit whilst he's in HK last December, and we had had some wonderful time together... Dear Ian, thanks for being that good friend coming from afar and making me a very happy man!!!:-)

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Ah this is so clever, and seeing you as the third character shooting here behind the Canonist, excellent ! Reality is not what we think. Superb demo, Hugo, with style & perfect compo. Another great trinity here.

@k@: So glad to have found this wonderful "model"... he certainly knows how to pose! Stay tuned! Cheers!:-)

Interesting shot with different levels of reading.
Through the view of the photographer, and around him we get the feeling of the city.
That's great.

Hi Hugo - don't I look handsome at this angle (you got my best side)! Ha Ha :-) I remember waiting here for a while trying to make a good shot of it, but failed. You have taken advantage with great creativity - I suspect you must have pre-planned this, luring me down here just to get this shot? :-) Only kidding - it was a great night and I'm now running through my series from the same evening. Happy shooting and look forward to the next time.

@Ian Smith: Such beautiful light, air of romance, charming lady and a handsome man (showing his best side)... tell me how to resist!:-))) Happy shooting and posting my friend!!!

But you'd rather capture the man who looks at the Belle ...
An interesting series of shots! I'm curious: in the window of the building right, I see the same logo as on the glass of beer!

@Christian Richer: Here's a larger view if you're interested in the details.:-)

Wow - a composition with such elegance and style, Hugo. Love your point of view and the way you play with the angles to create this almost theatrical scene.
