the "construction city"

'Must be one of the "Transformers"!!!' I have this feeling every time I look at these pics.:-)

Better view the Larger.

And here's a wider shot of the site.

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

I am always amazed by the flavor of your colors ... A treat!

l'aspect de l'immeuble semble en noir et blanc ce qui rend une désaturation partielle

One of the most impressive night shot for its lighting & colors i have seen : i LOVE this, Hugo, masterpiece of realism, seems i am in the scene, no screen between us, this IS here. The rede glow in the windows are like an inner fire echoing the magic giant ant-machine : bravo, i won't have the time to comment a lot today but how happy i am to have open your page (what else is new ? ;) Thanks for the big vision (how come the colors are so surreal AND real ? Tell me more about this scene & shooting when you have time - thanks again).

@k@: I appreciate your asking! I really do my dear! I'm getting much less excitable these days and there must be "something" really strong that my eyes see and my heart feels before I press the shutter... Back to this scene, yes, it's the visual impact of the light and colours ("surreal and real", exactly) that have captured me almost immediately after the noise of the machine has drawn my attention. However, there's "something" deeper (and personal) that struck me: I used to walk across this street every morning when I was a schoolboy, yet the moment I stood here again, awed by the "giant ant-machine", I simply couldn't recall what was the building that once occupied the site but has now vanished, no matter how hard I tried to dig into my memory... not even a trace!!! It's under such mental state that I took these shots - I must have taken more than a dozen pics and the workers must be taking me as a crazy guy!

You can't imagine (or maybe yes, you do) how much i can relate to this, Hugo. Sincere thanks for sharing this precious feel. I went to see it in larger size and was stunned by colors over Present (the worker, the monster of the machine - primary colors like a drawing from a kid, yellow, red, blue only) and deep-deep gray on the building (lack of colors, colors vanished like your memory at that very place) but with the burning fire of your mind trying to recall. A photograph, when that much inhabited by feelings of the photographer, takes your breath & forces you to stop and BE here - when the viewers thought it was "just" a matter of light & colors.
How i love our tool, my friend, and the way you use & dig it. Take care***

@k@: How I love your words, each and every of them... just wish my pics could express half as beautifully! Don't know what to add k@... I'm so touched! Thanks!:-)

"The burning fire of your mind trying to recall" symbolized within the 4 vivid windows (4 directions of your brain digging East West North & South), i meant*

A very beautiful composition! Excellent processing! Two thumbs up!

@Dokmateo: Thank you my friend! PS. Not much processing apart from cropping and a little enhancement... Here's the untouched version.

I love that kind of scene and you captured it so well !
The fact this happening at night emphases it greatly.

Yes - my exact same thought was of Transformers. Mankind has become a slave to machines. A brilliant allegory, Hugo - the whole scene shows our dependence on the grid of technology. We see the countless air conditioning units and the lighted windows; and of course construction reshapes the streetscape itself.

Nice series Hugo - reading your replies to K@ gives a new dimension to the subject. It is true how easy you can walk the same path for years with the mind's eye closed. It's only returning to such places you begin to see things you never really noticed before.

Oh! The light is simply magnificent, and the composition created by the colors is splendid. It seems like the light has burned and dodged the scene just for the eyes of a photographer. Delightful

The fact that it is a night shot can easily get unnoticed such is the realism of the scene.

That thing is a Transformer! It converts from a not so mild mannered huge truck into a concrete pumping monster. An excellent night shot, Hugo.

A wonderful mix of the surreal and the everyday in this moment . . and what a fascinating addition your Response to k@/Karine provides, too. A superb posting on so many levels.
