when the "long day" is done...

A recent Saturday evening... The tram stop and the cleaner.

Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

The town and its dreams, in B & B. .. The city and its reality, in violent colors and deafening. Only the hood provides protection ridiculous. Superb unusual framing!

A powerful image in so many ways... fantastic framing, linear perspective, and night mood. There are so many interesting details to consider, and the cleaning woman, carrying her tools in a bent forward manner, says much about the everyday drudgery of work. Great image Hugo.

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

Powerful image, Hugo, with the woman struggling out of the prison-like corridor between the trams. Her view of the neon lit street ahead could almost be an urban 'mirage' - its riches so close yet so far.

Another excellent engaging capture Hugo!

Francisco Romero from Carbajal de la Legua, Spain

This is glorious. The back slightly curved by the weight just gives the mood of a long and exhausting day of work that ends. And in a superb framing. The image goes hand in hand with the title.

Great capture. At first it looked liket it was a great port she/he was coming out from the factory. But it´s so well seen there btween the trams

Marvelous framing of this woman with her burdensome load. Wonderful light and color, sending fanciful colors into a scene that might have had a heavy theme.

Here it's the palette i love the most (of course with the emotion of the pace of the man) : such a rich variety of pinks, greens, golds, blues.... Like a stained glass through which you admire, as we do with you, your beloved city.

Nitin from Shanghai, China

An incredibly 'close', deep and overwhelming shot Hugo! Absolutely impressive. The intimacy of the trams to each other, the guy in between, the colors on the tram bodies, the colors of the streets, the shimmer on the tracks, the night lights - omg - it's so dramatic. Almost feels like I'm standing right and and watching this. A genius piece of photography - something there is beyond description! Cheers and kudos!

25 Feb 2012 4:05pm

@Nitin: I still remember how I was stunned by the sight... "Did I get it? Have I got the shot?" I kept asking myself even after the camera clicked.

Pavan Kaul from Mumbai, India

A brilliant canvas with masterful strokes of light and color...a moving document that is at the same time also poetic and powerful, filling my senses with such strong emotions! A scene I would expect to see in a movie classic! The reflections, colors, textures, depth, detail and a brilliant composition make this a wall hanger for sure Hugo! I love this! Bravo!!
