"No Parking Against Prison Wall" says the sign.

The Larger view

Solitude is a state of seclusion or isolation, lack of contact with people or love, yet what's captivating about it is its mysteriously turning misery and banality into a sentimental poem... Here's "the solitude album".

(Victoria Prison, Chancery Lane, Central, Hong Kong - "Victoria Prison (域多利監獄) was Hong Kong's first prison. A testimony to the evolution of Hong Kong's correctional services, it had been the centre of the local prison system until it ceased operation in December 2005. As part of the Central Police Station Compound, Victoria Prison is a declared monument of Hong Kong." Wikipedia)

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Such brilliant use of 'space' in your fabulous composition Hugo! The waiting girl is perfectly placed in the frame, beautifully lit, so emotion that is so palpable, dear friend! Awe inspiring work for sure:)

I like the punctuation here. I mean how each element gives natural rhythm to the whole (and the wall ;) Cinematic again in the best light, aww, love those tones and the quality of it, what we can see, what we guess, what we imagine : the woman in expectations, the bike (figuring her lover ?), the signs in chinese talking silently over her. And that opposition of still & rush. Stillness of the elements and rush feel of the perspective & angle, as the lines runs towards the left, the light, the Next step of the story. And your position in the dark, so discreet & present as well, and us with your eyes, standing here and watching, waiting too, like she does, as she might notice you/us in a sec. Did she ?
Glorious !

@k@: It's simply incredible how you've got almost every element and the whole picture so accurate... If you don't mind, I'd love to tell you the Next step of this story (just hope it won't spoil the romance). It's a Friday night and I was waiting for a good friend of mine (who's infamous for his habit of being late). Like you said, I was standing in the dark, watching, and this lady caught my mind... Must be more than half an hour that I'd been waiting and so was this lady, talking on her cell phone (to her lover). My friend finally arrived. He'd never say sorry in the past but that night he behaved like an embarrassed young kid; awkwardly he said he was sorry and then added that he'd got someone to introduce to me - his new girl friend. Oh my...

One of the smells of the city.
I love the huge potential of this image for the imagination.
A lot of different stories can be written from this simple but evocative image.
Another time, the light of the night is especially well captured.

The girl doesn't seem to care about a law (as she parked her self against the wall ;) ). Her presence in dark talking with someone on phone and the solitude of atmosphere creates a deep mystery in the story. I'm amazed you managed to capture this without girl noticing you... Truly wonderful !! :)

Tu Tu Girl from Hong Kong

A lean figure
Leaning on the tumbly wall
She parked her soul
Calling her destiny
A show
Too dim to glow
Too slim to show

One day
Some day
She will take the ride
And bite the wind
Throws her figure
A new journey begins

@Tu Tu Girl: What a beautiful poem Tu Tu! I'm so charmed and touched! Thank you so much!
