I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Gérard Beullac from Paris, France

Perfect light, interesting street night ambiance.
I really enjoy how you show us your vision of HK, so different with the ones we commonly see here and there.

@Gérard Beullac: Don't know why, I have always been drawn to these places that are disappearing at an amazing pace! Thanks for your warm encouragement!

Arr Day from montréal, Canada

Coming home ... from Mystery Place. I really like the general mood of the picture, and the mysteries of what's up there, up the stairs, whether you've been to the right or the left. For there's a bit of colors up there, as a promise of something. All enhanced by the sepias in the fopreground.
Amazingly enough, the car in the lower right is not intrusive in this life-weathered environment. Just discretly anchoring the event in today's reality.
I really like your work, man. I do not comment everytime, but I could.

@Arr Day: Thank you for reading into my pics! Your words are such wonderful encouragement! I'm touched!

Wonderful quiet night ambience and atmosphere, which MUST be difficult to find a city so bustling as Hong Kong.
Even the cats seem at peace with the world :-)

A mood, and a very good detail with the cat on the left.
I think that there are also cats on the right that the boy is looking at, and a lot of details in this interesting picture.

Your timing, as always, is quite magical, Hugo. I like the variety of figures we see further in the background - and the cats complete the laneway scene!

The cat's neck and eyes on the scene, i love that and see this first, it opens up the whole scene and then my eye climbs your stairs up, passing the sweet Mom & Son to meet the other kids in super silhouettes till the upper street. I just love to have a stroll as if with you in your dear HK ! Always.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

A wonderful image of a place somewhat off the the tourists' path, I'm guessing. I'm so happy you know these special places and share them with us, Hugo.

A slice of life moment, decisive in many ways. I throughly enjoy looking at your images, the little details that tell the tale. In this photo, I love the cat, so strategically placed in your frame, watching the mother and child descend the stairs. Fantastic shot!
