"have a good night!"

The Center, the fifth tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong, and Graham Street, one last remaining street market...

Graham Street, Central, Hong Kong

"Like it or not, this 73-storey skyscraper, armoured with hundreds of colourful neon light bars, is intruding into almost every old urban scene of the Sheung Wan District..."

"the center and peel street"

"the center and elgin street"

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Amazing and stunning visual confrontation! As a metaphor for our hierarchical societies ...

Such a contrast between what´s on the ground and what´s there high up in the sky. Some symbolic interpretations makes this to a fantastic capture.

The upper part is such a graphic delight, my eye dances in-between all those harmonious lines, stripes of energy that all softly lead to a more daily lower part where the scene of the day (sorry, the night ;) is to be discovered as if we were slowly landing on. Beautiful vertical construction of your image that tells a lot, in its rich verticallity, about your inner vertical depth, my friend : it evokes to me a clever & solid backbone crossed by sensitive vibes from the tip of the hair to the tiptoes end of your body with which you feel everything since taking a photo while feeling it it's not only using one eye only, correct ? ;) Deserved rest for your w-e now, maestro*

@k@: Again, I've been moving back and forth between your words and the picture... the more I read your words, the more I like the pic, and vice versa! Don't know what to say to thank you for feeling what I felt and expressing in such beautiful and amazing eloquence! I'm touched k@!

Gérard Beullac from Paris, France

Green stripes here and there, up and down, classical and modern, textile and electric.
They are making an amazing visual design in their confrontation in this another splendid night scene.

Very stark contrasts in styles, I guess the threat is now there for all to see, the new concrete, glass, and steel structures will eventually take over and populate what were once safe havens for small traders.

For the moment, they seem happy to co-exist . . and likely plugged into the same power-source.

What a contrast between this skyscraper and this small street where one feels life on a human scale! Impressive shot, Hugo.

Fantastic shot, Hugo. Your juxtaposition of the stark modern tower over the bustling human street is perfect. The light is exquisite as always!

Remarkable vertical impact captured here Hugo! The building of lines and light, from brightness to darkness is expertly rendered. I especially love the contrast between the remote corporate world which the coolly lit skyscraper symbolizes and the grounded workaday world of the warmly lit venders street.

Great light in this one. Also a nice commentary on the two ways business is done here - high tower and street market. Well done.

Amazing picture - it's such an iconic picture of the person sweeping the floor outside the restaurant there. Lovely colors and the mood of the night is so enchanting. Cheers!

Splendid and jaw dropping composition of light and intimidating hard lines of Modernity, and yet the subject is the fellow spotlighted sweeping the street.
