'春回堂藥行 Good Spring Company Limited'

Just love the name (and the mood) of this traditional Chinese Herb Tea Shop... Have a good spring!:-)

Stanley Street, Central, Hong Kong

FUJIFILM FinePix X100 1/30 second F/4.0 ISO 640 23 mm

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Hehe, we're close in the subject if not in the image. I'm sure you know how to appreciate every little detail that announces the new season and i love those lovers, new seeds in themselves, 'emerging from the soil' to celebrate the big renewal (my fav season). The scene in the background is so rich, the name of the shop, yes, love that and the characters attitudes. When i wrote on my page Spring is coming, I knew people would contest and read Spring is here, but i didn't say that : spring is coming is a reality, present in each detail of life around, and your image illustrates it in a way i enjoy so much. Very happy we celebrate this together, Hugo ! Let's enjoy all the promising seeds in & out ;)

4 Feb 2013 7:54am

@k@: Today is an important day among Chinese - it's the first of the 24 solar terms in our calender! Yes, let's celebrate the beautiful "renewal"!:-)

Basile Pesso from Paris, France

First, the framing is perfect with the small part on the right and everything calculated to the millimetre.
Then, this couple looking like a mounting but which is not, I think adds a wonderful poetry, a kind of East Side Story (an idea of title).
This picture has something very special, the union between the coldness of the geometry and a kind of dull grey mood with the warmth of love plus the cinematic mood : it is a very rare union.

Arr Day from Montreal, Canada

A square within a square framing. I like the impression that it makes - well yes I do derive emotions from unobvious things like that - wrecked by design I suppose. The couple in the foreground bugs me though. But I appreciate this picture because, mostly, of the subtle different light sources, almost fighting each other.
I like those Peel and Stanley streets. We have the same here in Montreal, and they run side by side. I guess we both inherited them from the Brits. I'll have to figure out who those people were.

5 Feb 2013 1:35am

@Arr Day: I believe you're right. Haven't figured out who Stanley was but learned that Peel Street is actually named after Robert Peel, a two-time British Prime Minister... Thanks Arr!:-)

You went to see who are the people who gave their names to those streets ! You're so funny - I did find the time myself. but I google-mapped the area, in HK, and found it to be a very exciting quarter - and a well-to-do one at that. These active, populated, overlit parts of towns (any big city) is a major source of thrilland excitement for me. Now I wanna go HK soon ! Only on Google I found many fascinating street corners, pedestrian pâahs, passerelles and catwalks I would like to explore !

Since then, the Brit Empire has shrunk. Only such footprints remain.
