"heading home..."

... finally after another long day of street vending. Have a good night!:-)

The Larger view

The Tram Road (Johnston Road), Wanchai, Hong Kong

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Gérard Beullac from Paris, France

What I love !
During my trip in India I really enjoyed finding this exuberance peculiar to the streets of the big Asian cities.

Francisco Romero from Carbajal de la Legua, Spain

What a contrast of old fashioned transport in the middle of modern traffic. As always, the light and the colors are such a beauty to behold...

22 Mar 2013 5:54pm

Eric C. from Un peu partout, France

What's this Hugo ? Homeless, i don't think so ... Explain me :-) Great light & mood !

22 Mar 2013 6:27pm

@Eric C.: They are street vendors or simply hawkers, another disappearing street scene in this fast developing city of HK... Have a good weekend Eric!

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

What a load they have to take home and put away. They work hard. In spite of the late hour, the street is still quite crowded. My favorite city truly never sleeps.

22 Mar 2013 7:44pm

Elaine Hancock from Rockville, United States

They have quite a load. I love all the color and activity. Beautiful street scene!

23 Mar 2013 1:05am

k@ from Paris, France

Oh my this is SO unreal within the big reality of HK ! I love those 2 characters right in the middle of the trafic, like twins of some cinematic fantasy ! They must be so tired after their long day of work and going back home in pollution, noises, crowd.... You must be that tired too and i wish them both & you a resting week-end, Hugo.
Splendid movie still of your great director eye again here, I'm quite 'stuck' with this image & caught in the trafic myself, mesmerized...

23 Mar 2013 3:47am

@k@: Yes, definitely a cinematic scene and I was just captivated! Sisters? Friends? Partners? I never had the chance to find out; had not made it to their front to see their faces... but they're charming as they were now, an amazing elegance even after a long day.:-) Glad this snap shot came out fine! Wishing you a very lovely weekend, k@!

Stu from From Scotland | Living in 京都 Kyoto, Japan

It must be a tiring life. Another wonderful street shot Hugo.

I like Hong-Kong there is material to be made of the photo, at night or the lights of the shop window and the opened shop

23 Mar 2013 6:33am

RORO from LE HAVRE, France

So much light in the night, a very interesting scene, like so a social report on walking traffic jam :-)

23 Mar 2013 9:06am

Kate from EXETER, United Kingdom

I am stuck in the trafic too paused and trying to understand what it would be like to walk a mile in their shoes.
Brilliant Hugo.

k@ from Paris, France

I found this great quote that reminded me of your work, at once ~ "Daylight is too easy. What I want is difficult – the atmosphere of lamps and moonlight" – Edgar Degas.

23 Mar 2013 6:55pm

@k@: But daylight is too difficult to me! Ha ha!:-))

Abena from Illinois, United States

What can I say other than this is beautifully scene and seen ! I love the energy of the place, it's packed with people doing what they are and trying to get to their destination. We had a lot of hawkers back in Lesotho. Lovely ambiance and image Hugo !

Arr Day from montréal, Canada

Actually, the girl's red shirt and the mustard-yellow blanket suits the colors of the city lights. There is the equilibium that makes the picture perfect, the one I could not pinpoint but only feel last night !

28 Mar 2013 12:49am

@Arr Day: That's exactly what caught my eyes in the first place! Thanks Arr!:-)
