Better view the "Larger"

Another quiet night in this vanishing street market...

Gage Street, Central, Hong Kong

"it's time to go home... (graham street)"

"it's time to go home... (wilmer street)"

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United Kingdom

I'm never sure if the buildings spill into the street or the street spills into the building . . a bit of both, I guess !

13 Jun 2013 6:20am

@Ronnie 2¢: Your observation is just exceptional!:-)

Gérard Beullac from Paris, France

A never ending activities street, less or more busy, for sure !
This is less, but with an incomparable atmosphere.
And the street is ours. great feeling.

13 Jun 2013 6:37am

@Gérard Beullac: Yes, the street felt to be ours... yet it's a little sad for me to add that this beautiful street is disappearing real fast! If you look closed at the right, you could notice it's actually a construction site, a huge one! This was how it's like two years ago...

k@ from Paris, France

I'm not sure I would see as better as you (always) do in those streets, the light is so low and yet so present, offers this particular mood you are linked to now here on Aminus, it's called the H-Poonesque night ! Always the same thrill, never the same sensations following you as a guide with our lucky freewill !

13 Jun 2013 10:23am

@k@: It's most gratifying to know you enjoy the mood of these night streets as I do!!! I was so drawn to them and just had to take these shots - I guess more than half of the scenes I photographed in the past few years have actually 'vanished'!

Lydia.Dd from Paris, France

I like the mood in the street by night , great !

k@ from Paris, France

"vanished" ? How's that ? You lost the files ?

13 Jun 2013 12:23pm

@k@: Oh I was referring to the street scenes not my files, all those traditional small businesses and local stores that have been replaced by new trendy restaurants and fashion shops...

Shaahin Bahremand from Tehran, Iran

excellent shot

k@ from Paris, France

@ Hugo / Sorry, misunderstood due to slow digestion i guess... ;)

13 Jun 2013 1:43pm

@k@: It's fine k@... this happens all the time.:-) BTW, as I told Gérard, the street corner on the right was like this two years ago but it's gone!:-(

Veronique from France-and-, Switzerland

A wonderful shot on this most wonderful street. The night mood here is beautiful.

Abena from Illinois, United States

The time to go home(graham) version is just as good. This one touches me, it has feeling, age and sadly a disappearing market feel. You've trapped the moment in the image and I think it's beautiful especially with the magical dose of blue and yellow light. Another excellent one Hugo! I like it!

M. David Taub from Montpellier, France

strong emotion, the daily routine, and our slowly and sometimes not so slowly changing world...beautiful color too...

Beautiful image. The light is just gorgeousl. I love the quiet solitude of the night. I am sure it is a totally different place during the day.

15 Jun 2013 1:14am

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Such mellow contrasts (in the mood, not the light), the bustle and detritus of the day carefully blended with the stillness and quiet of the night. Once again you find an exceptional quiet time and place to tell your stories.
