Another version: "joyce is not here"

Peel Street, Hong Kong

To some, this is one last remaining "old streets"; to others, it's where they just come for foods, traditional or trendy;
To some, it's a fascinating mix of cultures; to others it's the invasion of the old living by some pretentious bourgeois...
To me, it's a street I have to pass by at least once a week but my photographing of it never seems to be finished.:-)

I do not regard myself as a photographer. I'm an ordinary man but extraordinarily obsessed with capturing all the memorable scenes that I encounter in my everyday life. It's like an excited traveller craving to record his memorable journey in a memorable way, but in my case, it's the journey of my life ... If I can record my encounters in such a way that they leave an image on the mind of myself and other viewers, it's a tremendous joy and some accomplishment...
In terms of photography, I'm trying to preserve the moments as my eyes see "something" and my heart feels it too. As such, I seldom feel interested in planned, arranged or manipulated photographs...

What a meaningful moment you have caught here . . the figure is like the Past shuffling away from the Future . . and pretending they never met.

What a pleasure to have our eyes invited one more time to climb this street in the beautiful nocturnal lighting !
The location is obviously the same one, the emotion is different at each time we re-discover that kind of scene.
So: grand merci for that !

This may end up as ranking one of your best of Peel Street Hugo, the simple composition married to the opportunity presented by the figure walking into the only prominent pool of light. Great magical coincidences or timing.
The shot also has a surprising emotional pull too, as if I can see time slipping away as I sit and stare.

You capture the feeling so well each time, my friend. Your exposure (and the added dynamic range the X-E1 offers) are so enchanting that I can't help but be drawn into the scene. Can't wait to return and go for another stroll around one evening.

Amazing image. I love how you caught her in the light as she was walking. A beautiful haunting scene. It just brings out so much empathy for her just by the way she is walking up the hill.

Lonely, quiet, and so so beautiful Hugo. I love how you have the last person walking up the hill, very much like closing time of anywhere...it's lovely.

"Joy is here", the joy of your unique night light, always energized with your own emotions that cross the frame with no doubt. This lil' character, bent as she is, is so emotional. I can feel your eye & heart at work here as you press the shutter with respect. And again, yesterday & today walk on the same path...
I'm fond of the way you document your personal inner land, Hugo - be thanked for what you share and that touches us deeply. Have a good week ahead*

Happyness is a quiet thing at times, enjoyable in one's solitude. I am like that. So there is no sadness here for me.
I did not pay attention if you mention it, but this is Peel street I suppose.
I love those night shots (and especially yours), they find an echo in me. A predisposition of some sort I could say.

This is what I consider a classic Poon: night image with a simple setting, great artificial light and an interesting person as a focal point. I've seen this over and over in your photography and enjoy it every time I see one.
